2009 Youth Hall of FameEach year, the CYC solicits nominations of outstanding youth and adult advocates for the Youth Hall of Fame. The Youth Hall of Fame was established in 1998 as a way to recognize the sometimes over-looked commitment and service of local youth to their peers, their schools, and their communities. The honorees represent the many and valuable contribution made by young people, as well as the adults who work with youth, in Contra Costa County. Each year five youth and one adult are honored in the categories of School Leadership, Artiste, Sports Leadership, Good Samaritan, Valiant Volunteer, and Adult Advocate. The Youth Commission selected the honorees and the Youth Hall of Fame awards are presented as part of the annual Cesar Chavez Commemorative Celebration. The honoree’s names are recorded on a perpetual plaque at the Board of Supervisors’ Chambers. This series of awards is given every year to 5 deserving youth (between 12 & 18 years of age) and 1 adult from Contra Costa County whose achievements would otherwise go unnoticed. The CYC believes that there are many people who make valuable contributions to our communities and are rarely recognized for these good deeds.. Here are the categories.... Good Samaritan: someone who goes out of his or her way to do something good without getting recognition. We invite you to submit a nomination of these categories by completing the attached form. Please, no nominations of immediate relatives. Nominations must be received or postmarked by 5:00pm Monday, March 2, 2009. Further instructions are on the Nomination Form. Thank your for your submission. The 2009 Youth Hall of Fame Nomination Form is now available online!
