The County
The Contra Costa County is divided up into 5 districts, actually the first five districts in California (Districts 1-5). While the County government does work for entire county, the Board of Supervisors is divided up by districts. There is one County Supervisor per district. Districts also define who your State Assemblymember and your United States Representative are. United States Senators serve a much larger area of population. For example, everyone in the Contra Costa County is represented by Senator Barbara Boxer.
